DOLLAR STORE CRAFTS!!!

OK I confess! I have always hated the Dollar store with a passion! It has always seemed to me like a landfill waiting to happen...But I saw the little BOO sign on Joy's blog and decided that if it turned out ugly I would only be out a buck. So I went to the Dollar Tree and bought the picture frame. You are supposed to print the letters out on newspaper but my printer is out of commission so I just drew them on with a sharpe.
While I was in the dollar store I picked up some cute little white pumpkins, spanish moss, and some hideous red berry garlands that were supposed to be for Christmas. I spray painted them black so they would be all Halloweeny!

Sunday drive

Liv wears these glasses EVERYWHERE! She gets some funny looks in the grocery store!

We went for a Sunday drive on the Nebo loop. I thought the trees would be really pretty but most of them haven't changed yet. Next weekend should be a better time to go. But the kids had fun and we took them on a short hike and let them have a picnic by payson lake.
Allie refused to smile for this picture. She wanted to have a picnic right then and was mad that she had to wait until we got back to the lake. She dishes out 90% of the drama in our house!
Gracie is the only one who cooperates with me when I want to take pictures. Sometimes I have to tell her to just be natural and not to pose.

Liv running through the trees.
Allie taking charge and carrying her load. I just love that they are so cute and little and the simplest things are so much fun to them. I really don't ever want them to grow up!

Handy Craps!

Today Allie and I made a monogram craft that I saw on Joysofhome blog. It was really easy and fun! Allie gets bored sometimes now that Gracie goes to school all day so I try to think of fun activities we can do. I think that they turned out pretty cute. I will probably hang them up but for now they are hanging from their bed posts. Oh and they cost under $5 each to make! That's for paint, ribbon, the letters, scrapbook paper, and the plaques!

I also made one for my living room. Oh and I was just kidding about the post title. My Dad teases about making "handy craps" instead of handy crafts. Whatever right!

Cake

Gracie had a loose tooth when I picked her up from school today. While we were eating fried chicken I heard this pop sound and she started bawling. Her little tooth had popped right out!
After dinner we were frosting the cake that we had made and Olivia kept licking the sprinkles and putting them back into the sprinkle thing. Yup I'll be throwing those away! I let the girls each decorate a side of the cake. Gracie's was globbed with sprinkles and Allie's had these icky little black spots on it. Yum!

RAIN!

It rained late this afternoon and just as the sun was setting it peeked out from the clouds and made a really cool rainbow that ended just up from our house. The girls were all excited. They wanted to get on their bikes and get up there to get the pot of gold so they could be RICH! I remember chasing rainbows on my bike too. So funny! It kind of looks like my neighbors truck is at the end. Weird.

Labor Day Weekend

We went to JR's parents property in Salina canyon over Labor Day weekend. The kids had a lot of fun playing with their cousins and exploring. Grandma and Grandpa made a little play house that is really cute! The kids loved it!

Grandma's Tile Table

Grandma's Tile Table

Tile Table

When my Grandma Johnson's house was being cleaned out we came across some extra tiles from when my Grandpa had tiled her kitchen for her. She loved blue and I'm sure she was delighted when He put up these blue white and brown tiles. Her kitchen was always where family congregated, as she was an excellent cook, and we all spent countless hours there with her and Grandpa. I remember a time when I was pregnant and my Mom and I had driven up to Provo to do some shopping. We talked about going to see grandma before we drove home and I said "Wow, you know I am really craving her apple pie right now! Wouldn't that be awesome if she had baked one today." Well as luck would have it we pulled up just as it was coming out of the oven. She didn't even know we were coming to visit! She had just felt like baking a pie. I have a zillion memories of her in her kitchen and so when her house sold I knew I needed a little piece of something that would stir up good feelings every time I looked at it. Nothing could be more perfect than tiles from her kitchen. So a couple of days ago I finally dug the tiles out and made a mosaic table for my front porch. I love it, and love having a little reminder of her.
